Los Angeles cosmetic surgeon Dr. Robert Abergel has learned that 78% of women say they’d be impressed if their partner bought them Botox for Valentine’s Day. In fact, dermal fillers and Botox topped the most lusted-after gift list.
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, most men are stressing over the perfect way to say ‘I love you’. But forget about wilting flower bouquets, fattening chocolates and cutesy teddy bears, because most women have only one gift on their list this year – something to make them look and feel better about themselves.
When researchers asked women how they’d feel if their partner bought them Botox treatments as a Valentine’s Day gift, 78 per cent said they’d be impressed, 15 per cent said they would be mildly pleased (yet concerned), and the remaining 7 per cent said they would be slightly offended or not happy. The study also examined which cosmetic treatments women would like to receive for Valentine’s Day, and dermal fillers, Botox and tooth whitening topped the list.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, your Los Angeles cosmetic surgeon has found that women would definitely not like to receive laser hair removal, skin tightening and leg vein removal this year. (Listen up, men!)
Men have even been searching the Internet for advice, with one cosmetic surgery and treatment review website seeing a rise in inquiries from men seeking advice on whether they should reply to their partners’ anti-aging concerns. But new research reveals that the number one question from men was: ‘Which aesthetic treatments can I give without offending my Valentine?’
Speaking about the results, a spokesperson for Good Surgeon Guide, who conducted the study, stated: ‘While our opinion is that gifting cosmetic surgery or aesthetic treatments is not good idea, it cannot erase the fact that people still feel compelled to give and receive them.’
‘We recommend that men who choose to give cosmetic treatments for Valentine’s understand how the gift may make their partner feel, especially if it’s a surprise. If at all possible, it’s best to discuss the treatment with their partner and make sure it is something they want.’
