The Facelift procedure, also called rhytidectomy, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that is performed to improve the appearance of the lower portion of the face. The issues that a facelift may resolve include: creases and lines along the sides of the nose and mouth, creases below the eyes, overall sagging in the middle to lower portion of the face, sagging, excess skin and/or fatty deposits in the lower face/jowls/chin/neck. The facelift is one of many facial rejuvenation procedures performed today, but it is the most invasive. The facelift may be best for candidates who cannot achieve the results desired through less invasive methods. Often facelift patients are those with excess, sagging skin in the lower portion of the face–as that is an issue that no other facial rejuvenation procedure can address.
