Facelift surgery, which is known as rhytidectomy, involves the reduction and improvement of wrinkles and any excess or sagging skin of the face, which in turn gives the patient a more youthful appearance. During this procedure, local anesthesia is used in conjunction with IV sedation, which means you will need someone to drive you home afterwards. This procedure involves tightening the neck and facial muscles and trimming away excess skin, and it is also typically performed in conjunction with other procedures such as an eyelid lift, a forehead lift, liposuction, and chin augmentation, as these procedures tend to enhance the other.
A facial minisculpture is a more refined type of liposuction for the face and typically involves facial areas such as the nasolabial folds, the cheeks, chin, jowls, and jawline. Since the instruments used for a minisculpture are smaller than the instruments used in traditional liposuction, the amount of discomfort, bruising, and swelling is remarkably minimal. Also, since a local anesthetic is used, the patient is able to drive themselves home after a short recovery period in the office.
Body liposculpture is a more refined technique of liposuction which also uses smaller instruments than are used in traditional liposuction and can be performed on virtually any area of the body. Body liposculpture involves refining a person’s form and silhouette by removing fat from areas such as the chin, chest, arms, legs, buttocks, hips, thighs, ankles, and knees. This procedure is performed with local anesthesia in conjunction with light sedation, and afterwards the patient can typically resume normal activities and return to work within 48 to 72 hours.
Laser eyelid surgery, which is also known as blepharoplasty, involves using a laser to improve baggy or droopy eyelids, thus restoring a more youthful appearance. Since a laser is used, no stitches are required, bruising and swelling are kept to a minimum, and the very small, resulting crescent-shaped scar is nearly invisible, as it is well-concealed in the folds of the eyelid. Afterwards, the patient can typically return to normal activities within three days after a lower eyelid procedure, and seven days following an upper eyelid procedure.
The laser mini lift is a minimally invasive face lift that is often performed at the first signs of aging and is used to tighten loose skin, eradicate a small double chin and sagging jowls, thereby giving the patient a more youthful appearance. This procedure is often performed in conjunction with laser eyelid surgery, a laser or chemical peel, lip augmentation, facial sculpture, tissue glue, and/or fat sculpting, since each procedure enhances the other. Since local and light (twilight) anesthesia is used, there is a period of required home recovery time, or you can choose to spend one or two nights in our wonderful recovery facility after your surgery and expect to return to normal activities within three days after your procedure.
Laser resurfacing is a laser face peel that can provide a more youthful appearance by way of targeting and removing specific problem areas such as enlarged blood vessels, precancerous lesions, and wrinkles. This popular, desirable, and non-toxic alternative to surgery uses different, specific lasers to target certain areas of the face, and sometimes requires the use of a certain chemical called TCA which optimizes the results of this procedure. For patients with minimal skin damage or issues, they can expect a recovery time of approximately one week, while patients with more severe damage typically require a recovery period of two weeks.
Botox Cosmetic has been in use for several years now and is a safe, popular treatment for the reduction and improved appearance of facial wrinkles, crow’s feet, and laugh lines. Botox Cosmetic requires no anesthetic since it is virtually painless and is administered as an injection directly into the affected areas of the face. Botox Cosmetic works by blocking the nerve impulses and temporarily paralyzing the muscles responsible for creating wrinkles; however, it will not treat other age-related issues such as sagging facial skin.
Restylane is a one-of-a-kind, FDA-approved non-animal based dermal filler approved for use in the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. A topical anesthetic is often administered to minimize discomfort, as Restylane is administered as an injection just beneath the skin. This convenient procedure poses no risk of allergic side effects, no recovery time is needed, and results are often instantaneous.
Radiesse is another FDA-approved method of treatment for facial wrinkles and folds. Radiesse is also typically used to correct issues regarding the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, as well as shaping and contouring of the chin, cheeks, nose, or jaw line. A topical anesthetic is often used to minimize patient discomfort, as Radiesse is injected beneath the skin. Depending upon the amount of correction needed, the procedure can take anywhere from fifteen to forty minutes, and results may last up to two years.
Juvederm is a non-animal based injectable filler gel that is used in the treatment of deep facial wrinkles, lines, folds, acne scars, lip augmentation, chin and cheek contouring, and other facial imperfections. Since Juvederm comes in a smooth gel form and three different concentrations, this allows for smoother, natural looking results in the treatment of anything from crow’s feet to deeper wrinkles, lines, and folds. Depending upon the size and number of areas that require treatment, the procedure can take anywhere from five to thirty minutes, but results are immediate, no recovery time is required, and the results can last for six months or more.
Perlane is another FDA-approved injectable filler gel which is used in the correction of moderate to severe facial appearance issues such as wrinkles, folds, worry lines, smile lines, crow’s feet, marionette lines, smoker’s lines, nasolabial folds, acne scars, skin depressions, lip and chin augmentation, and redefinition of the lip border. Perlane is different from Restylane in that the gel particles are larger, which allows it to reach the deeper layers of skin. Since a topical anesthetic is often used to maximize patient comfort, no recovery time is needed, and the effects of this convenient treatment have been shown to last for six months to a year.
With any cosmetic procedure, a consultation is required in order to determine just which procedure is right for you.
